The city of Camden was awarded a $20.8 million federal grant as
part of the Philadelphia-Camden Bi-State Empowerment Zone award, in 1994, under the federal Empowerment Zone/Enterprise Community (EZ/EC) initiative. Due to extensive negotiations and planning between the City, strawberry raspberry elf bar State, and Community residents, its operations began in January 1997 when the first employee of the Corporation was hired. Currently, the Corporation manages a $115 million Community Development resource portfolio.
Our Mission
The mission of the Camden Empowerment Zone Corporation is to help
Empowerment Zone residents realize their vision by improving the
quality of life for Empowerment Zone residents through developing,
implementing and managing the Camden Empowerment Zone strategic
plan. To ensure the success of this effort, the CEZC continues to
significantly involve residents in decision-making, planning and
strategy development.
